2. Shield BROWSER: Collection and Use of Your Information

Information Shield Browser receives when you use the Browser

You do not need to provide any Personal Information in order to download or use the Browser.

When you use the Browser (like most other web browsers), Shield Browser may automatically receive non- personally identifiable information, such as your system's IP address, when you contact our servers and any cookies attached to such search from third parties. Shield Browser itself does not set any cookies.

However, if you use the "Share" feature that links the Website URL to your personal Facebook or Twitter page, you will be asked to provide certain Personal Information, which will include your username and password, in order to link with your Facebook or Twitter account. This information is transmitted directly to the respective social network. Shield Browser does not store this information. It is entirely optional for you to use the 'Share' feature or any other Browser features that Shield Browser may make available to you.

Information Shield Browser sends to websites and ISP's

Like most web browsers, the websites that you visit using the Shield Browser will receive certain non- personally identifiable information, for example, this information may consist of the type of browser, type of device, language preference, the referring website and your IP address. These sites may also set their own cookies or other website data on your system. Each website determines its own privacy practices and is not controlled or monitored by Shield Browser. If you want to understand how these websites use your information, you must review that particular website's privacy policy.

Information Shield Browser Stores when you use the Browser

Unless you are in Shield Mode (see below), the Shield Browser stores some of your information locally on your system. For example, the Shield Browser may store basic browsing history such as URL's of pages you visit, text and images from those pages, IP addresses linked from the pages, index of most pages you visit, cookies deposited on your system by and a record of downloads you have made.

You have the ability to conduct searches and browsing through "Shield Mode". When you use the Shield Mode the websites you visit and files you download are not recorded in your browsing and download history by the Shield Browser. Websites you visit may deposit new cookies on your system while you are in Shield Mode, but these cookies will be deleted after you close all your Shielded windows. Of course the websites you have visited may still have a record of your visit to their website. Also, when you exit the Shield Mode, any files saved to your computer will remain on your computer.

Secure DNS Features

The Shield Browser application updates your DNS settings to prevent you from navigating to undesired or dangerous websites. Below we describe what information we collect when you install and use the Shield Browser application and when you visit the website that is accessible through the Shield Browser application. Information we collect:

Date and time and domain name of each DNS request you make through the Shield Browser application

The Application and associated Services are tools intended to improve your web navigation, including but not limited to direct navigation, search services and blocking of known malicious sites. The Application embodies proprietary technology intended to determine and categorize web domains to redirect you away from undesired or non-existing domains.

The Shield Browser Application once installed and activated will make the following changes to your DNS Settings and Browser Search Behavior:

  1. Updates your DNS settings;
  2. Redirects you from Non-Existent Domains (where no domain exists) and from "typo squatting" domains (domains that take advantage of a typographical error to lead you away from your intended website destination) to the web pages where you aimed to navigate, to category relevant web pages where Shield Browser may have a partnership, or to a search results page giving you additional navigation or search choices;
  3. Blocks you from navigating to malicious domains;
  4. Improves your DNS performance speed.
  5. Redirects you from known takeover domains (where page may have been hijacked without your knowledge) to category relevant web pages where Shield Browser may have a partnership, or to a search results page giving you additional navigation or search choices.

Display of Advertising. You acknowledge that while use of the Application and Services is provided free of charge, Advertising may be displayed as part of your use of the Application. Advertising may be displayed on any site owned by Shield Browser or through affiliates; or on any website not owned or affiliated with Shield Browser.

How to Uninstall the Application. You can easily uninstall the Application as follows: Make sure all your browser windows are closed before starting the uninstallation process. Click on the "Start" button; then click on the "Settings" button, then click on the "Control Panel" button, then click on the "Add or Remove Programs" button, then select "Shield Browser", then click on the "Change/Remove" button.

Children's Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. Shield Browser operates its Website and Browser in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The Website and Browser are not directed to individuals under the age of thirteen (13), and we request that such individuals do not provide any personally identifying information through the Website.

Security

Shield Browser takes reasonable precaution to protect Personal Information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access.
